SALLY BECKLEY SMITH

Your consultant and advisor in the pet care industry

Smith’s entrepreneurial spirit led to the creation of Companion Pet Enterprises in 1985, a company dedicated to advising and aiding others in their business endeavors. Smith is also the President of Airborne Animals LLC, a pet transportation & pet moving company. Pets are moved via commercial airline cargo services domestically and internationally.

Smith started as a veterinary technician, graduating from SUNY Delhi in 1979. After working for many years in a small animal hospital setting, she completed grooming studies from NASH Academy of Animal Arts, and helped design and oversee construction of a pet care facility housing a veterinary hospital, boarding kennel, grooming shop, crematory, and pet shipping services. She was director of the facility for 13 years. Smith has over 40 years of experience working in the pet industry.

Airborne Animals LLC has grown into a full time business, and specializes in the relocation of dogs, cats, birds and other small household pets.

Shipping clientele includes Microsoft, Johnson and Johnson, Invitrogen, Continental, but mostly private individuals.

Her diversified background relates her with the people and companies she works with. She understands the people and clients they work with.

Smith has served on several association boards including the New Jersey Veterinary Technicians and Assistants, the International Pet and Animal Transportation Association (currently is the immediate past -president, and the American Boarding Kennels Association, where she is a past president. Additionally, she has earned ABKA's highest award for service, the Golden Scoop. She is also past-president of two local Chambers of Commerce (Roxbury and the Blairstown Business Association). Consulting clients have included Veterinary Learning Systems, ABKA, and a variety of technician associations as well as private hospitals and kennels.

Smith is the immediate past-president of the International Pet and Animal Transportation Association (IPATA) having donated 3 years of time to the position, and still serves on committees within the association. IPATA a trade association dedicated to the professional and competent pet relocation services in the USA & around the world. Smith has been given the Millie Award, the highest honor award IPATA gives to members, twice. She is the only association member to have received this award on two different occasions.
